There are a number of reasons to keep your home’s window clean, from safeguarding your windows health to increasing your properties appeal (particularly those who are in the process of selling).
But why do windows get dirty in the first place? Here we look at the common culprits of what is contaminating your view.
Airborne pollution
The most common cause of dirty windows is one that is beyond all of our control. The outdoor air is full of pollutants that led to dirt and debris building up around our windows and sills from rain, soot, smoke, and pollen. The different seasons will present their own problems in terms of airborne effects and wind will make the impact worse as it kicks all the pollutants around and headed for your windows.
Where you live (and who you live with)
The position of your property will affect how dirty your windows become. If you live near a woodland area or a busy road with lots of nearby traffic, this will impact how grimy your windows will become, with dirt from these travelling onto and around your sills. Additionally, if you have pets and small child in the home, the interior and exterior may get their fair share of slobby nose marks and sticky fingerprints which will both leave residue on your windows.
Window cleaning solutions used
Solutions used at home may be tempting to guard against the dirt, but some chemicals can actually make the situation worse and result in a harsh, streaky mess. Hard water from hoses can also lead to dirtier windows than they originally were. It is therefore best to call in the professionals and ensure the rights tools are used for the most efficient clean.
